ASESA 10th Anniversary

Asesa is to hold its tenth-year annivesary in Pietermaritzburg in July 2006. The host for this event is PIMSTA, one of ASESA's member-organisation. This anniversary will form part of ASESA's Annual General Meeting. ASESA will, with in its programme, also honour the 30th Anniversary of the 1976 Youth Uprising.

As a national MST organisation, ASESA is made up of member-organisations that include MDAMSTEDA (Mdantsane, Buffalo City Municipality, KWTDAMSTE (King William's Town), both in the Eastern Cape and AMSEME (North West). Two other organisations, NOMSTE (Nebo, Limpompo) and MASTEDAM (from Kroonstad) are in the process of joining ASESA.

High profile academics and writers, businesses and government in the fields of Mathematics, Science and Technology will form part of the celebrations.

ASESA also plans to raise over R2,4m for the 2006 / 2007 financial year. ASESA hopes that this cash injections will help the organisation's endevours to assist educators from grade R-12 to better their skills and methodology, thereby producing future marketable Mathematicians, Scientists and Technologists. ASESA's main source of funding so far has been the Trust for Educational Advancement in South Africa (TEASA), and ASESA is very grateful to TEASA for the undying financial support.
